Our beginnings

The history of the place, where we established the Museum of the People's Republic of Poland [PRP], began in 1890, when the well-known German family, von Bellestrem, set up a farm – the Nowa Ruda Manor.

After the war, the mansion was acquired by the State Treasury and transformed into a State Agricultural Farm [PGR]. After the end of collective farming in Poland, the farm was abandoned and gradually fell into disrepair. In the pictures below, you can see what it looked like in 2002.

On 4 June 2010, on the 21st anniversary of the first democratic election, the Museum of the People's Republic of Poland was inaugurated with the exhibition "Starting from the end...". You are warmly invited to visit us.
